My Name is Lucila [lu-see-la]
Photographer based in Houston, TX
I was born and raised in Houston, TX. Some of my favorite things include checking out new coffee shops in and around Houston with my hubby, getting in a good work out, spending quality time with my favorite people and cuddling with our furbabies.
I attended the University of Houston for both my bachelor's & master's degrees in education. I studied elementary & higher education during my time there. I'm a certified bilingual educator with 6 years in the classroom under my belt before stepping out to coach teachers as a reading specialist. Now, I spend my time during the week serving students through math intervention on campus.
As a full time educator I take pride in rooting for the success of my students, and through photography I have been given the opportunity to learn your story and root for you!
Captured by Chila was born from my passion of capturing moments as they happen; those authentic moments with the big laughs, happy tears, the nervous feeling of starting a new season in life and everything in between.
Why Chila?
A very common question is "so is your name Lucila or Chila?"
My name is Lucila but my dad calls me Chila.
When I was in elementary school there was a substitute teacher taking roll for our class and she mispronounced my name. She said "Luchila" instead of "Lucila". I went home and told my parents about it and next thing I knew my dad began to call me Chila and it stuck ever since.
My family is everything to me so choosing Chila to be the name of my business was my way of honoring where my passion began.
